Synopsis of the Scheme 项目简介
高等学校科研平台和项目：该项目由广东省教育厅发起、组织、管理，支持领域包含自然科学和人文社会科学，项目类型分为科研平台和科研项目两种，经费均由申报单位自筹。
高等教育专项项目：该项目由广东省教育科学规划领导小组发起、组织、管理，支持教育思想创新和教育发展改革研究，项目包含四个类别，经费均由申报单位自筹。
Higher education institution scientific research platform and scheme: this scheme is initiated, organized, and managed by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province. It supports research areas in natural science and humanity & social science. It contains two types of projects: research platform and research project. The funds are raised by the application institutions.
Higher Education Special Scheme: this scheme is initiated, organized, and managed by the Guangdong Provincial Educational Science Planning Leading Group. It supports research areas in education methodology innovation and research on education development and reform. It includes four categories of projects. The funds are raised by the application institutions.

According to the application requirements made by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, HKUST(GZ) is eligible to apply for the following projects:

※ DoE-GD will not provide funds for the above projects. The support funding from the University will be announced after the discussion.
Eligibility 申请资质
- 广东省普通高校人文社科重点研究基地项目带头人须为省内高校正高级职称在职人员；
- 重点领域专项项目申请人原则上具有高级职称，项目组应由3名及以上具备申请条件的人员组成；
- 特色创新项目申请人原则上具备高级职称或博士学位；
- 青年创新人才项目申请人年龄须在35周岁以下（截止2023年6月12日）、副高及以下职称；课题组成员的年龄一般不超过39周岁；申请人未获得过国家、省部级科研课题资助；
- 高等教育专项项目申请人年龄不超过55岁，具有中级以上（含）职称或博士学位；每个申请人只能申报一个课题。
- The project leader of Guangdong Key Research Base in Humanity and Social Science of General College and University should be full-time employed by the higher education institutions of Guangdong and should possess a senior professional title.
- The applicant for the Key Area Project should possess a senior professional title in principle. The project team should have three or more researchers who are qualified as the applicant.
- The applicant for the Featured Innovation Project should possess a senior professional title or a doctoral degree.
- The applicant for the Young Innovative Talent Project should be under the age of 35 (by 12 June 2023) with an associate senior professional title or below. Generally, the team members should be under the age of 39. And the applicant should not be granted national, provincial or ministerial-level research projects.
- The applicant for the Higher Education Scheme should be under the age of 55 and possess a medium or above professional title or doctoral degree. And each applicant can only apply for one topic.
Proposal Submission 申报方式

| 2023年5月11-30日 From May 11 to May 30, 2023 | 进入申报系统网，首页下载对应的《申报书》，根据要求认真准备申报资料；于5月20日前完成科研项目内审系统的项目审批；于5月30日前将电子版申报资料（含申报书及附件）发送至科研处联系人邮箱，逾期提交资料将不予受理。申报资料文件夹统一命名为“申报人姓名-枢纽-学域-项目名称”。Log in to the application system and prepare proposals according to the project guideline.Finish the internal review application through the Research Project Internal Review System by May 20.Send the application materials, including the proposal and attachments, to Research Department by email by May 30. The Research Department will not accept application materials after the submission deadline. The materials should be named as “Name of the applicant-Thrust-Hub-Project name”. |

Notes 注意事项
- 2023年度申报书预计于5月19日左右发布，发布前可先参考2022年版本准备项目资料；
- 申请人需认真填报“预期成果”，此为评审及结题验收的重要依据，不得随意更改；
- 经费预算不设置间接经费；
- 科研处将协助申请人开通系统账号及上传盖章签字文件；
- 涉及科研伦理和科技安全的项目，申请人需在项目申报前完成伦理审查（建议提前至少20天进行审查）。
- The proposal template for 2023 will be released on May 19. Applicants can refer to the 2022 proposal template for preparation.
- Applicants should compose the “expected outcomes” carefully since the expected outcomes are the important basis for the internal review and final acceptance. The expected outcomes shall not be changed arbitrarily.
- No overhead cost will be charged from this scheme.
- The Research Department will assist with creating accounts and uploading the sealed and signed documents.
- If a project involves research ethics and safety issues, applicants should complete the ethics review before the proposal submission. It is highly recommended that the ethics review should be conducted at least 20 days prior to the internal deadline.
